Demolishing commercial or residential properties is a difficult job that requires special expertise. If you're looking for a demolition contractor, choosing a skilled and cooperative company will make the project go smoothly. Here's what you should be looking for throughout the interview process.

What to Look for in a Demolition Team

1. Accurate Estimates

When interviewing a contractor, ask how quickly they think their team can complete your project. If you have an estimated timeline in mind, find out if they can adhere to it. This will ensure you're able to fulfill the time requirements set by your client.

You should also get a written, itemized estimate to view the potential charges in advance. To help you stay on budget, ask if they anticipate the cost to rise as the project continues and what they'd do if they go over budget.

2. License & Insurance

Ask for physical copies of their licenses. Working with a licensed contractor ensures they've completed the necessary training and maintained their standards through the renewal process. It's also important for your demolition team to have insurance to make sure that you aren't liable if one of their workers gets hurt or causes an injury at the worksite.

3. Experience

Ask to see a portfolio of recent projects. The team you choose should have completed a similar scope to what you need, ensuring they have the capabilities to perform your requested work.

You should also ask how much experience the staff has. A newly founded company can still have employees with decades of experience, so find out who would be on your project's team and what their background is.
